The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) cleans streets for film productions. You can ask for cleaning before and after filming. There is a fee for this service.
Film companies can call the DSNY's Public Affairs Office to ask for street cleaning. The film company will pay for this service.
Film productions must clean up after filming. They must not leave any trash on City property. If the street is dirty after filming, the film company will get a fine.
Film productions must:
- Keep sidewalks, tree pits and grass strips free of trash
- Clean the gutter areas around the film site
- Clean 18 inches from the curb into the street
- Make sure no trash is left behind
All trash must be put in containers for a private carter to collect. Do not use sanitation baskets for this.
It is illegal to litter or throw trash on any street, public place or vacant lot.
