Financial Coaching for Small Business Owners

The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) is offering financial coaching in partnership with Next Street to strengthen small business owners’ business finances. Through this program, eligible small businesses located in NYC can connect with a professional business coach for support in:

Separating Personal and Business Expenses (Startup & Operating Businesses): Understand why and how to keep personal and business finances distinct, helping you stay organized and legally compliant.
Developing Financial Projections (Startup & Operating Businesses): Discover how to create reliable, data-driven financial forecasts that will help you plan for the future and prepare for lender funding.
Taxes Check-In and Check-Up (Startup & Operating Businesses): Gain insight into your tax obligations, compliance check-up, and expert guidance to maximize your business's financial health.
Understanding Financial Documents (Operating Businesses): Learn the importance of profit & loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and more to make smart, informed decisions that fuel growth.
QuickBooks® Overview (Operating Businesses): Learn how QuickBooks® can be a tool to streamline your accounting, simplify bookkeeping, and keep your finances running smoothly.

Small business owners can sign up via NYC Funds Finder.

When registering an account on the platform, or updating your business’s profile, you can select “Financial Advisory” under the “My Business Needs” section. Under the Advisor tab, you will be able to schedule a session with a My Business Finance Coach.

Capacity for this program is limited; eligible businesses will be limited to one hour-long session across all topics. Appointments will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis while availability lasts. This program ends on June 30, 2025.
