Rechargeable Battery Collection and Recycling

In New York State, stores that sell rechargeable batteries must take them back for recycling. You can bring up to 10 batteries per day to these stores.
These batteries include:
- Nickel cadmium
- Nickel metal hydride
- Lithium ion
- Sealed lead acid
Stores must have signs that tell you about their recycling practices. It is against the law to throw rechargeable batteries in the trash in New York State.
