In New York State, homes that care for adults need a special certificate. This certificate is from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).

Homes need this certificate if they:

These homes cannot give medical care.

As of January 1, 2025, new laws are in place to better manage homes for adults. Operators should review them as soon as possible.
